Phedimus kamtschaticum var. floriferum 'Weihenstephaner Gold' is a low-growing succulent with ascending, red stems that bear fleshy, spoon…

Common Name: Stonecrop
Genus: Sedum
Species: kamtschaticum
Cultivar: var. floriferum 'Weihenstephaner Gold'
Skill Level: Beginner
Exposure: Full sun
Hardiness: Hardy
Soil type: Well-drained/light, Dry, Sandy
Height: 10cm
Spread: 25cm
Time to divide plants: March to May
Flowering period: July to September

This is an easy-going but potentially quite dramatic plant, since the foliage takes on reddish tints around the edges in hot, dry conditions especially towards autumn. This makes a spectacular trailing or ground-hugging background for the flattish clusters of gold and bronze-orange tinted flowers that are produced from mid-summer into early autumn. It looks good teamed with Euphorbia dulcis 'Chameleon' in a well-drained border, and also grows well in cracks and crevices in walls and pavements.
