Fairy garden plants that looks like a tree?

I have two plants with very tall, thin stems (some say leaves). They have many leaves, up to 5 on a stem. They can be about 2 feet tall (some, not all). What kind of plant is this?

I know that some fairy garden plants are like trees. (I have seen it written on several fairy gardens websites, but am just not sure how that is possible.

I can't say what it is from my area, but it grows in the shade, and smells really nice.

I thought I would share my two little green houses on a back deck, and the plants in them. The plants are on a small patio (about 20" wide, and about 35" long.

The plants in the two green houses, in no order.

Hairy Fern

Pilea peperomioides (A)

Tree Peony (B)

Paeonia (B)

Shade-loving Ivy (C)

Hedera helix

Wild Rose (D)

Rosa wichuriana

Witch Hazel

Hamamelis x intermedia

Ivy

Hedera helix

Dwarf-Pyracantha

Pyracantha fortuneana

Dwarf Whitebeam (E)

Sorbus scabiosaefolia (E)

Painted Lady (F)

Celosia argentea

Lady Fern

Athyrium filix fennica

Scentless Mayweed

Ageratina adenophora (F)

The green house to the right, is my favorite. The lady fern, and witch hazel are my favorites.

The green house to the left is not quite as pretty. The dwarf whitebeam, and scentless mayweed have a bit of a bad odor to them.

I am not in love with the hollyhocks. They have a strong, strong odor to them.

I love the dwarf pyracantha, but I have no idea what it smells like.

The blue-green fern is kind of ugly to look at. In summer it will start to unfurl in the morning, and you can see it growing under the greenhouses over-head. It's interesting, it doesn't look like a "real" fern, but it smells good, and if you don't touch it, it doesn't have an offensive odor to it. It goes dormant in the fall.

The tree peonies are my favorite right now.

The scentless mayweed makes me want to get a pair of overalls and get a hose to wash them off.

The witch hazel doesn't smell very good.

The shaded green house with the tree peonies (B) is my second favorite. I want to get a hose to get the mayweed off of it.

The tree peonies are my favorite, the lady fern is the second best, the dwarf pyracantha is third. The little pink geranium is my fourth.

They are all blooming now. The lady fern is a little hard to see, if you didn't know the green house, you wouldn't know it was there.

I have to say that I am not very fond of the scented geranium. They have a distinct, not so great, smell to them.

This was a nice garden in the late fall. The tree peonies had not bloomed yet, they were the best blooms. The dwarf pyracantha was in bloom. The rose, the scented geranium and the lady fern all added to the beauty of it.

We just took this shot with the rosebud in the middle, in order to get a nice clear picture of the garden in the fall.

It is July, the last month of summer. I hope I don't think too much of this month. I have already lived through the winter,
